Jewelry Care

Aurelianest Care Guide

Your jewelry is designed to be worn, enjoyed, and collected over time. Proper care helps preserve the finish, stone details, sculptural surfaces, moving components, and character of each Aurelianest piece.

Because our collection includes materials such as 925 sterling silver, gold-tone finishes, copper elements, turquoise, spinel, textured metal, and mixed-material constructions, different pieces may require slightly different care.

Everyday Care in One Minute

Keep jewelry dry whenever possible.

Apply perfume and lotion before putting jewelry on.

Remove pieces before swimming, bathing, sleeping, or exercising.

Wipe gently after wear and store pieces separately.

01 Avoid prolonged moisture
02 Keep away from perfume and chemicals
03 Protect stones from impact
04 Store pieces separately
05 Clean gently, never aggressively

Daily Wear

Jewelry naturally comes into contact with skin, air, clothing, and the environment. Over time, these factors can affect shine, color, and surface texture.

To reduce unnecessary wear, put your jewelry on after applying skincare, sunscreen, fragrance, or hair products. Remove pieces before activities that involve moisture, friction, chemicals, or strong impact.

  • Avoid showering, swimming, or bathing while wearing jewelry.
  • Remove rings before cleaning, lifting heavy objects, or doing manual work.
  • Keep jewelry away from chlorine, salt water, alcohol-based products, and household cleaners.
  • Try to avoid repeated impact against hard surfaces.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

For routine cleaning, use a clean, soft, dry cloth and gently wipe the surface after wear. This helps remove skin oils, dust, and light residue before storage.

Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners, rough brushes, polishing compounds, or chemical dips unless the cleaning product is specifically suitable for the exact material of your piece.

Oxidation & Patina

925 sterling silver may naturally oxidize over time. This can create darker areas or a patina, especially in recessed details or sculptural surfaces.

Natural oxidation is not necessarily a defect. On many vintage-inspired Aurelianest designs, subtle patina can actually emphasize carved details and add depth to the piece.

If you prefer a brighter silver appearance, gently use a suitable silver polishing cloth on accessible surfaces without aggressively polishing intentional darkened areas.

Care by Material

Different materials respond differently to moisture, oxidation, friction, heat, and cleaning products. Use the guidance below as a general reference and always treat detailed or stone-set pieces with extra care.

MATERIAL 01

925 Sterling Silver

Sterling silver can naturally oxidize and darken over time, particularly when exposed to humidity, sweat, perfume, or air.

Use a soft silver polishing cloth when needed and store the piece in a dry environment. Avoid chlorine and harsh silver dips on pieces that include stones or intentional oxidized details.

MATERIAL 02

Gold-Tone Details

Gold-tone surfaces and decorative finishes should be protected from abrasion, perfume, alcohol, cosmetics, and prolonged moisture.

Clean gently with a soft dry cloth rather than aggressive polishing. Repeated friction can gradually affect plated or finished surfaces.

MATERIAL 03

Turquoise & Natural Stones

Natural stones may contain variations in color, matrix, texture, and surface pattern. Avoid soaking, steam cleaning, chemical cleaners, and strong impact.

Wipe stone surfaces gently and keep them away from perfume, lotion, oil, and prolonged water exposure.

MATERIAL 04

Spinel & Decorative Stones

Stone-set jewelry should be protected from impact, pressure, and abrasive contact. Even durable stones can be scratched or loosened by improper wear.

Check settings occasionally and avoid wearing stone-set pieces during strenuous activity.

MATERIAL 05

Copper Elements

Copper naturally develops surface changes and patina over time. This reaction can be affected by skin chemistry, humidity, and environmental exposure.

Keep copper-containing pieces dry and wipe them after wear to reduce residue buildup.

MATERIAL 06

Mechanical & Openable Pieces

Some sculptural designs include opening, moving, or articulated components. These should be handled gently and only moved in their intended direction.

Do not force mechanisms, bend hinges, or repeatedly twist components beyond their normal range of movement.

What to Do

  • Wipe jewelry gently after each wear.
  • Keep pieces in separate pouches or compartments.
  • Store jewelry in a cool, dry place.
  • Handle stones and mechanical details carefully.
  • Apply fragrance and skincare before putting jewelry on.
  • Check clasps, stone settings, and moving parts periodically.

What to Avoid

  • Swimming in chlorinated or salt water while wearing jewelry.
  • Sleeping or exercising in delicate pieces.
  • Using toothpaste, rough brushes, or abrasive powders.
  • Spraying perfume directly onto jewelry.
  • Keeping multiple metal pieces loose together where they may scratch.
  • Forcing articulated or opening mechanisms.

Storage Matters

How jewelry is stored can have a major effect on its appearance over time. Avoid leaving pieces exposed in humid bathrooms, direct sunlight, or places where they can rub against one another.

For best results, keep jewelry in a dry pouch, lined box, or separate compartment. If you plan to store a piece for an extended period, make sure it is clean and completely dry first.

Delicate chains should be laid flat or hung separately to help reduce tangling.
